Districts Welcome Two New Project Coordinators

A person stands on a scenic mountain trail, surrounded by greenery and snow-capped peaks under a bright blue sky.

My name is Mark Church and I am a Project Coordinator for the Baker County Soil and Water Conservation Districts. I recently graduated from Eastern Oregon University with a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Sciences. While at Eastern Oregon University I competed on the Track and Field team. I grew up on a small farm in western Idaho where we raised beef cattle and various crops. I have lived here in Eastern Oregon for the last four years and I am excited to be able to give back to the community and help our agricultural producers.

Mark will be taking care of all water sampling, field notes and data collection/entry for the districts’ ongoing water quality monitoring projects, including two Strategic Implementation Areas; the Lower Powder SIA, and the Burnt River SIA, as well as the Baker County MST-DNA Monitoring Project.

Hello everyone my name is Heath Croghan, I grew up in Elgin, Oregon, and graduated from Elgin High School. I spent a lot of time farming and ranching on our family ranch a few miles North of Elgin growing up. I'm an avid outdoorsman, including camping, and snowmobiling. I earned a bachelor's degree in Natural Resources with a focus in Fish and Wildlife Ecology from Oregon State University Cascades located in Bend, Oregon. I spent 3 years attending COCC (Central Oregon Community College), also located in Bend, before transferring to OSU Cascades for my final two years of college.
